About the Pedagogy Series
The Pedagogy Series is a series of books that follow best practices in education. With a new, fun, upbeat style of writing that is both practical and informational. You will be introduced to the writing styles of Bryan L. Miller and Dr. Katrina Keene as they share information in the series about leadership, transformational changes, current teaching practices, and relevant topics that need to be addressed.
PLAYdagogy is the first book in the series that discusses how play has changed through the years, and how this fundamental activity can make a huge impact in how children learn. Dr. Katrina Keene
Bryan and Katrina are both educators and international keynote presenters. They have traveled the world together presenting on topics that involve play, coding, robotics, STEM, leadership, student voice and choice, social media, and digital citizenship, just to name a few! Their over 30 years of combined experience in education as kindergarten teachers, computer teachers, and directors of educational technology provide both Bryan and Katrina relevant experience in the field. Bryan L. Miller
Bryan is a veteran educator of 16 years and previously held roles as a kindergarten teacher, K-5 computer teacher and Director of Educational Technology at the 2nd largest, private, independent school in the US. As an international keynoter and presenter, Bryan has traveled the world working with schools, districts, governments, organizations, and start-up companies. He is a wealth of knowledge in the education and business fields and is seen as a thought-leader, influencer, and expert in connected toys and play, education strategy, school leadership, computer science curriculum, and STEM education.
You can find Bryan throughout social media as @EdTechNerd, where he loves connecting with educators, and helping them find the most effective ways to integrate coding, robotics, play, and technology into their daily classrooms. Bryan resides in the greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida area, and loves to travel for a living. Bryan loves working with schools, districts and companies, and is available for independent consulting and presenting.
Dr. Katrina Keene
Dr. Katrina Keene is a National and International speaker and has spent the last 19 years in K-12 technology education. Currently, Katrina is the Senior Strategic Outreach Manager in Education at Wonder Workshop for the Central United States. Prior to this, Katrina was an Education Strategist for CDWG, Director of Technology, Instructional Technology Coach, K-5 Computer Teacher, College Professor, as well as a 3rd Grade, 1st Grade, and Kindergarten teacher.
Katrina loves staying connected with educators through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Periscope and other social media platforms and is thrilled to bring her expertise and research to thousands of schools across the nation. Katrina is an MIEExpert, Remind Connected Educator, founder of #tntechchat and #edcampleadtn, and can be found in several well-known EdTech publications, blogs, and podcasts.
